You can purchase the AR installation as an NFT for a cool $99,000.Those who attended Art Basel Miami Beach 2022 or the Decipher 2022 Conference in Dubai this past week were in for a treat as renowned new media artist Nancy Baker Cahill debuted a groundbreaking new augmented reality (AR) art piece inspired by her conversations with Sophia the Robot, a human-like robot powered by artificial intelligence (AI).Developed in collaboration with Hanson Robotics, Stone Speaks is the latest in a series of AR art pieces from Cahill and the first in a 10-piece collection that Sophia will develop alongside 10 guest artists over the next 10 years. The XR Week Peek (2022.11.07): PSVR 2 will cost $549, HoloLens are probably dead, and more!

Yesterday I discovered that a friend of mine wants to propose as “Vitillo’s law” or “Skarred’s law” the law that every innovative technology we are waiting for is always coming in “5 to 10 years”. I would love for that to become an official Murphy’s law, but I’m sure that even if the XR community started adopting it now, the law could become popular only in 5 to 10 years…  That said, let’s dig into the pieces of XR news of this week, which has been pretty interesting… Top news of the week (Image by Sony Interactive Entertainment)Sony announces price and release date for PSVR 2 Sony Interactive Entertainment has finally announced that PSVR 2 will be launched on February 22nd, 2023 for $549. Interested people in selected markets will be able to preorder the device starting from November, 15th 2022.  Together with this announcement, Sony has also announced 11 new games that will

The XR Week Peek (2022.11.01): Quest Pro gets released, Quest 3 slated for 2023, and more!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE! Even if it is not part of the Italian tradition, probably Halloween is the right festivity for me, since I’m a ghost :). And in fact, for me, this one has been a pretty cool week: HTC Vive has selected me as one of the top 100 VR influencers (whatever this word means), Adello magazine featured me in its online publication, and today my company Vrroom will be a host of the afterparty of the Unity Unite event, with a concert of Blu DeTiger inside VRChat (Look for Unite2022 tag and you’ll find the world). So many exciting things are happening and I’m thankful to you all for the support you are giving me ❤ Top news of the week (Image by Meta)Quest Pro launches, but the reaction of the community is mild On October, 25th, the Meta Quest Pro has been officially launched, and the people who preordered it

The XR Week Peek (2022.10.18): Meta announces Quest Pro, new rumors about Apple, and more!

This has been the week of the Meta Connect, which brought with it many important announcements. I thought that there could be nothing else to say in this roundup apart from the Connect, while actually, digging into the various XR magazines and social media feed, I have been able to find a lot of interesting little news, which I’m reporting to you.  By the way, today I travel to Lisbon to attend AWE Europe, where I will be the moderator of a panel about sustainability in XR and Web3. If you are going, too, let me know and maybe we will be able to meet! If you are not going, well, expect to read some articles on mine about the hardware that I will try there, so you will feel as if you have been there, too… and I will also eat and review some delicious pasteis de nata for you :D.

From Virtual Clothes to Virtual Stores: XR in Fashion Retail

Fashion is physical. Right? While clothing has always been material, expression has always been something more. And, digital fashion brands have been exploring that intersection. Even physical fashion brands are using XR technology to sell their hard-copy clothing. Though some are selling soft-copy clothing too. From virtual clothes to virtual stores, there’s a lot to see. How to Bring the Human Into Virtual Try-On Before we get to full-on virtual stores, let’s start off with physical fashion retailers using XR technology. What’s the worst part of buying clothes? Trying them on, right? We’re all in agreement about that? The lines, the time, and the hassle? The… it’s just awkward, right? But, you want to know what the clothes will look like on you. This is where XR comes in. But, it turns out it’s still awkward. Or, at least, it can be. Reactive Reality In September, Reactive Reality announced the

How InfiniteWorld Is Building “Web2.5”

Extended reality technology is a part of “the metaverse” – a materializing virtual/physical world that seems perpetually here and perpetually around the corner. Another major part of the metaverse is “Web3” – an interconnection of human and computer systems brought about by data that is more universal, more complete, and more personal. In the middle is InfiniteWorld. .u481e60b9c5209f3dcbda5bd0a5929d89 { padding:0px; margin: 0; padding-top:1em!important; padding-bottom:1em!important; width:100%; display: block; font-weight:bold; background-color:#FFFFFF; border:0!important; border-left:4px solid #E74C3C!important; box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -moz-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -o-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -webkit-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); text-decoration:none; } .u481e60b9c5209f3dcbda5bd0a5929d89:active, .u481e60b9c5209f3dcbda5bd0a5929d89:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; text-decoration:none; } .u481e60b9c5209f3dcbda5bd0a5929d89 { transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; opacity: 1.05; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; } .u481e60b9c5209f3dcbda5bd0a5929d89 .ctaText { font-weight:bold; color:#000000; text-decoration:none; font-size: 16px; } .u481e60b9c5209f3dcbda5bd0a5929d89 .postTitle {

The XR Week Peek (2022.10.03): Quest 3 leaks, Lenovo ThinkReality VRX launch, and more!

I wish you are having a great day and a great week! This week I’ve been pretty busy with my dev work, but I also had some great moments: I had the pleasure of attending an XR-related event dedicated to women here in Turin; of being interviewed by the awesome Rene Schulte for his podcast (you can watch the interview here); and to taste a bit of an amazing tiramisu liquor (not before the interview of course :P).  But enough talking about me… let’s dig into the best AR/VR news of the week!
